This is a
fun and easy craft that you can do by yourself or even with your kids. All it takes is a little bit of time, some
scissors, a small box, some colorful paper, glue, markers, and some other items
to use for decorations. You can use things
like crepe paper, stickers, lace, foil, paper doilies or whatever else you can
think of.
When you
have all of your supplies together you are ready to begin. Now that you know what you are working with,
take a minute to picture in your mind what you would like the finished product
to look like.
Getting Started
Now most
Valentine’s boxes are totally covered in something
before the real fun starts. SO that is
what you will do
first. Decide what you want to cover your box in (foil, crepe paper or anything else), get your glue out and glue the covering in place. Make sure that you get all of the corners.

What next?
This is the
part that is both creative and fun. Look
at all of your decorative things. Cut
them into hearts, arrows, letters for a name or anything else and when you have
what you want; glue them into place on the box.
Markers?
Now you can
take the markers and draw on the box.
Draw inside, outside, on top of and even under the box if you like.
What about the Top?
When you
finish decorating the box it is time to tackle the lid. This is pretty simple. Before you do anything else to the lid, cut a
slit out of it for a slot to put Valentines into. Then, just as with the box, you will start by
covering it with whatever you like. Once
you have that glued into place, add the hearts or other things that you have
cut out. If you want to draw on the lid,
go ahead. If your child is in a larger
class, you may want to put the child’s name on the lid so that his box is not
confused with anyone else’s box.
Now you have
not only created a one of a kind Valentine’s box for your child to collect
their Valentines in, you have also created the priceless memory of spending
this time with your child and making something together that you both can
always treasure.
